It was wonderful to see everyone again! We discussed our various upcoming projects at this meeting.
On Saturday, September 6, we're planning on going to ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) to help around the shelter and play with the puppies, which is always fun! We will meet at the Bobcat Head on Front Campus at 12:30 PM to drive over. If you'd like to attend and did not sign up at the meeting, please email our secretary Mikaela at [email protected].
On Wednesday, September 10, we will doing a service project instead of holding a meeting. We will be going to the public library to participate in We Read, where we will read to local children. Since this event goes from 3-5 PM, we will be meeting at the Bobcat Head at 2:45 PM to walk over together.
Next week, Gamma Sigma Sigma will be holding their For The Troops Week to collect items to make care packages for the troops overseas. On Thursday, September 11, we will hold a social by attending their Balloon Paint War at the Village Pavilion at 6:00 PM. If you bring two items for the care packages or $5 for shipping, this activity will count as a service hour. You can still attend with bringing a donation, but your attendance won't count as a service hour. Please check your emails for the list of items that can be donated.
Each year the K Family (Key Club, Circle K, Kiwanis, etc) of Georgia hosts a tailgate at Georgia Tech before a game. This year's tailgate is Saturday, September 13, which is the Georgia Tech v Georgia Southern game. The tailgate alone is $14 and the game alone is $16; if you'd like to attend both, the cost will be $30. If you'd like to attend, please let us know by September 11, along with whether you will be attending the tailgate, the game, or both so that we can figure out carpooling. This is a great opportunity to meet other K Family members from across the state and form great inter-club friendships!
Another upcoming volunteer opportunity is the Deep Roots Festival held in Downtown Milledgeville. This year the festival will be held on Saturday, October 18. They will be in need of volunteers in the morning (starting at 9:00) and afternoon (starting at 12 and 2). Typically volunteers receive a free t-shirt and entrance to the festival for their service. Please contact us with your name, phone number, and shift preference (morning or afternoon) if you'd like to volunteer.
That's all for now! See everyone next time!
